Met by our correspond this Sunday (March 13, 2022 which is the 10th day since the start of the fast) the bishop of the diocese of N'zérékoré, Mgr. Raphaël Balla Guilavogui who, in his speech, had to mention the following: “This season of Lent beginning with Ash Wednesday is a time to put us in touch with others without public demonstration, a time of reconciliation with God and with our neighbour, a time to give love to our wounded brothers, a time to welcome Grace, a time to call for decluttering in our lives, a time to listen to the Heavenly Father who speaks to us at most deep in our heart. It is in this sense, moreover, that the Holy Father in his message to the faithful Catholic Christians of the world said, I quote:“Lent is an auspicious time for personal and community renewal which leads us to the Easter of Jesus Christ who died and rose again. “Do not weary of doing good, for when the time comes we will reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, when we have the opportunity, we work for the good of all” (Gal 6, 9-10a)”.
Continuing in his speech Mgr. Raphaël says he is in need for the completion of the project of the government of Alpha Condé on the construction of their sanctuary since 2013. Since the government of Alpha Condé had kindly agreed at the time to accompany the diocese of N'zérékoré in agreeing to build a sanctuary for her, we welcomed and encouraged the initiative which aimed to endow the Immatriculated Heart of Mary Cathedral in N'zérékoré with the holiest place in the temple. But for some time, there has been a sudden stoppage of work. We ask the transitional government (headed by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya) to come to our aid for the completion of our sanctuary, a project with a highly crucial scope for the diocese of N'zérékoré”.
This diocesan sanctuary which, the works have been stopped since 2015, is there the Cathedral of the Immatriculated Heart of Mary of N'zérékoré a significant proportion which could serve as a place of contemplation or even tourist.
